It‘s been 5 week since my birth and I‘m still not over my dream birth experience, in the most positive way possible

As everyone has a story, mine is that when I found out I was pregnant my first thought and feeling was the fear of giving birth…(followed by excitement to become a mom of course!). I hadn‘t done much research before or thought about giving birth much and what my options were. I am on medical aid so my first instinct was to take advantage of the benefits and birth at a private hospital. Everything changed when I was gifted the book Guide to Childbirth from Ina May Gaskin and that‘s when I decided I wanted to have a natural birth and be assisted by a midwife.

I googled and the closest midwife to me is Crystal and I‘m so so so grateful that I found her. After meeting with her she told me about my options with medical aid etc. I gave it some time to make a decision and took the ‘risk’ and decided to birth with Crystal even though I would‘ve had to go to a public hospital in case of emergency.

I told Crystal about my fears and she recommended Hypnobirthing with Kim – this turned out to be the second best decision (after deciding to do a homebirth).

I had a normal, healthy, low risk pregnancy and Crystal was always staying positive and supportive and giving recommendations or advise during checkups.

Fast forward my little angel decided to arrive on her due date and I was in labour for less than 20 hrs! Crystal supported me and my husband so positively and professionally throughout the process. During the last bit of labour she asked if she can help to prevent tearing and I ended up only with a small tear and baby was out in a couple pushes. We arrived at 7pm at her place and left home just before midnight with our baby girl!

I‘ve had a very fast recovery from birth and a healthy baby and can only still ponder on how content I am having had this positive and smooth birth experience after having been terrified in the beginning!

Crystal is the most amazing midwife and I can only highly recommend her to anyone that is thinking of a homebirth 💗
